Speaker: Dwight Pentecost

Description: Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost teaches eight sessions which deal with the Bible's account of Satan. Dr. Pentecost was Professor of Bible Exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary for over 50 years and the Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He went home to heaven in 2014.

There are 8 lessons in this course.

Lesson 1

We are often ignorant of Satan's devices and therefore fall in defeat. Dr. Pentecost even experienced an oppression of spirit as he prepared to teach this course. But, God shows that He is a God of glory to be worshipped by overcoming the hosts of wickedness.

Lesson 2

Satan is a supernatural being, though he is not able to be everywhere at once. When he rebelled, a great host of angelic beings accepted his leadership and rebelled with him, and Scripture refers to them as demons. This study will concern itself with their work in our world.

Lesson 3

Satan lusted to extend his authority beyond the realm of angels and rule over the universe, and to rob God of His glory. Before we can understand the demonic realm, it is necessary that we understand some essential facts about angels.

Lesson 4

At creation, God gave man authority over the earth, yet man was dependent upon God. But God gave man all he could ever need or desire before the Fall. Yet Satan changed himself into something he was not to successfully deceive. Satan tested Adam in the very area in which he was truly free.

Lesson 5

When God wanted to rule over creation, He simply created it, but Satan could only deceive to get a kingdom. Satan cannot operate in the truth, but only in the denial of truth. Therefore anyone that teaches that Jesus is not the only Way of salvation is teaching a lie of Satan.

Lesson 6

To pervert something is to change it from its original use. Satan set out to pervert God's blessings and His truth. Can we permit a good thing to be perverted in our lives?

Lesson 7

Satan has always sought to deceive men into thinking they are following God by following him. Does Satan seek to make men as ungodly as possible, or as godlike as possible but without God?

Lesson 8

Satan's original rebellion challenged the authority of God and His right to be believed and obeyed. Two cannot claim the right to be worshipped without settling the issue, and Satan sought to skirt the issue as long as possible, but Christ went out to challenge Satan to settle the issue. Satan atacked Christ in every way possible, but Christ was victorious.
