Lesson 1

Malachi is easily found, being the last Book of the Old Testament. There is a dialogue in the Book of Malachi between God & Israel. God loves us, but it is sad that God must remind us that He loves us. It took more faith for the Old Testament saints to see God's love than for us since the cross. God loves us because He is love.

Lesson 2

Malachi wrote because Israel had departed from the Lord. They were required by Law to offer a perfect lamb, but they had gotten to offering that which was corrupted. The Jewish priests in Malachi’s day had to learn exactly how to kill a lamb. When Jesus the Lamb was slain, no more sacrificial lambs were slain. The hypocrisy that God hates is when we sin & then arrogantly act as if we did not.

Lesson 3

In the Hebrew Old Testament there are only 3 chapters where there are 4 in the English text. The name Malachi means the Messenger of God. A man is responsible for everything he does no matter what it is. Jesus first came to save the individual from his sins, then He will come to save society.

Lesson 4

The reason that Israel was not in the place of blessing was that they did not know that they were away! The tithe was the Old Testament income tax. The New Testament principle concerning giving is utter surrender. When our hearts are right with God then our accounts will be right with Him as well. God wants to bless us far more than we want to be blessed.
