J. Sidlow Baxter was born in 1903 in Australia but grew up in England. He gave his life to Christ after reading a sermon by Charles Spurgeon. He surrendered to preach at the age of 19 and attended Spurgeon’s College in London. In 1951, Dr. Baxter left the pastorate in Scotland to begin a teaching ministry in America. His travels also took him to many mission fields, doing the work of an evangelist and writing over 26 books. Dr. Baxter went to be with the Lord in December of 1999 at the age of 96.
