To God be the glory! Great things he hath done!
WGTF covers Dothan and reaches into southern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle with 19,000 watts of power. The station was first a BBN affiliate from December 15th, 1981 until 2019. Then in the Spring of 2019, it became available for BBN to purchase.
Dothan is known as the Peanut Capitol of the World. Most peanuts grown in the United States are grown within 100 miles of Dothan.
Dothan also shares a name with the area mentioned in Genesis 37:17. That was the place where Joseph’s brothers threw him into a pit and then sold him into slavery. It must have looked bleak for Joseph as it was all unfolding. Not only had he become a slave, but he was later falsely accused and put in prison for years! Nevertheless, it was all part of God’s sovereign plan to give Joseph authority over all of Egypt. In the end, he was able to say to his brothers, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” (Genesis 50:20 ESV) When you think of Dothan, let it be a reminder that God always accomplishes his purpose.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
