For New Believers

Thank you for visiting BBN and for making the greatest decision of your life by asking Jesus Christ to become your personal Savior.

SAVED is a Bible word. “Whosoever ever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.” (Romans 10:13)  The following is to help you understand what this decision means.

SSaved

A drowning person cries out, “Save me”. A person in a burning building screams, “Save me”. Why do I need to be saved?  Because all are sinners, “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23)  We need a Savior. So when you asked Jesus Christ to come into your life he saved you from an eternal Hell.

AAssurance

How do I know I am saved?  Salvation is not based on a feeling, though you may have experienced the joy of your sins forgiven when you became a child of God.  Your assurance is based on the Bible, God’s promise book for you. Feelings may change, but His Word abides forever. When you were saved, God was knocking at the door of your heart.  You opened the door of your heart and invited Him to come in.  He took up residence in your life in the person of the Holy Spirit and will be with you until you step on Heavens shore.  Read I John 5:11-13.

VVictory

Victory does not mean you will never sin again.  However, if you do sin, God now has a provision for you to get forgiveness. Sin does not cause you to lose your salvation, but you can lose your fellowship. To illustrate; when you did something wrong as a child, it did not mean you were no longer a child of your father.  However, you did lose your fellowship with your father until you confessed your wrong. When you confessed, your fellowship was restored.  “If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9)

EEdify

“Edify” is a word that means to strengthen and build you up. As you daily read the Bible and memorize verses, you will grow spiritually. The Bible is your spiritual food for the soul, like pizza is physically food for the body.  Jesus said, “I am the bread of life, he that comes to me will never hunger”. (John 6:35)

DDirection

When you were saved, the Holy Spirit came to live within you. He is the third person of the Trinity.  He is that “still small voice”.  When you sin or do wrong, the Bible says He will be “grieved” and convict you of sin.  But when all is right He brings peace. He is also your teacher, to lead you into all truth and help you understand the Bible. Here are some verses to help you. (Psalms 23:2, 31:3 139:7-10)

3 Things To Do

  • Read your Bible every day. This is how God talks to you.
  • Pray every day. You talk to God.
  • Find a good church where the Bible is taught and salvation is preached. The church is the place where you meet other saved people and find fellowship and encouragement in your new life in Jesus Christ.
